Heavy Duty SAE Battery Tender Lead for Motorcycles, 24" or 36"
$9.95
The heavy-duty SAE battery tender lead connects an SAE accessory straight to your motorcycle battery. It is built with 16 gauge wire and handles 15 amps of current, which is what SAE heated clothing needs. Most SAE battery leads use much thinner wire and are fused at 3 amps.
What the SAE battery lead powers
- Battery tenders and chargers, for keeping the battery topped up in the garage.
- SAE heated jackets, vests and gloves.
- The SAE BMW Fuel Pump Bypass Cable, connected directly to the battery.
Why 16 gauge wire and a 15 amp fuse
A battery tender needs very little current, so a thin 3 amp lead is enough for charging. Heated clothing needs much more. The 16 gauge wire and 15 amp fuse let one lead do both jobs: charge the battery at home and run heated gear on the road.
How to install it on your motorcycle battery
- Turn the ignition off.
- Connect the ring terminal on the fused wire to the battery's positive (+) terminal, then the other ring terminal to the negative (-) terminal.
- Route the SAE end to a place you can reach, such as under the seat or beside a side panel, away from hot and moving parts. Secure it with cable ties.
- Keep the dust cap closed when nothing is plugged in.
Works with any 2-pin SAE charger or accessory
The SAE connector is the standard two-pin plug used by Battery Tender and many other motorcycle battery chargers, heated clothing and SAE USB chargers.
